Are your patches iron-on?

Most of them are: an adhesive film on the back melts under the iron. A few designs are sew-on only, which is always stated on the product page.

How do you apply an iron-on patch?

Iron at 150 °C with no steam, a thin cloth between the iron and the patch, fifteen seconds of firm pressure, then let it cool completely before handling it. A line of stitching around the edge makes it hold far longer.

Do they hold up in the wash?

Applied correctly, yes, washed at 30 °C inside out. On a garment that takes a beating, like the knee of a pair of pants, a few stitches at the corners keep the edge from lifting.

What fabrics can they go on?

Cotton, denim, canvas and heavy polyester all take iron-on adhesive. Avoid water-repellent fabrics, leather, faux leather and technical fabrics, where the adhesive either fails to grip or melts the material.

How are they applied?

The back is iron-on: one pass with the iron is enough, on a fabric that can take the heat. A few stitches around the edge fix it for good, which is the safer bet on a garment you wash often.
