How do you get the money out?

Through a hinged flap on the bottom of the bank, which pops open without breaking anything. Our models aren't smash-to-open banks: they reopen as many times as you need.

Do bills fit inside?

The slot is sized for coins and takes a bill folded in half. On the electronic suction banks, a separate slot swallows the bill automatically.

What are they made of?

Painted resin on the figurine models, ABS plastic on the electronic banks. Resin captures the details better, ABS holds up better to drops.

How does an electronic piggy bank work?

It runs on batteries and brings the Pokémon to life when you set a coin down: the hand or the paw reaches out, grabs it and carries it inside. The compartment empties through a flap at the back.

Is it a good gift for a child?

It's a gift that lasts, because it gets used every day and it gives the idea of saving money a concrete meaning. The animated version also makes it something kids show off to their friends.

You drop the coin through the slot on top and set the creature back on its shelf.

OUR POKÉMON PIGGY BANKS 🪙

There are three Pokémon piggy banks in this section, and no two do the same job. Two are figures made of painted resin with a matte finish : Pikachu seated, eyes closed and paws together in a delighted pose, and Snorlax sculpted with his eyelids shut, big round cream-colored belly. The third is a code-locked safe in a rigid ABS shell, which hardly resembles a classic piggy bank anymore.

UNSCREW THE PLUG INSTEAD OF BREAKING THE POKÉMON PIGGY BANK 🔩

Both figures have a screw-on plug under the base. That detail changes the object completely: the money comes back out the day you need it and the bank goes back on the shelf intact, ready for the next round. On the Pikachu, the coin slot is discreetly worked into the figure, so you see a statuette first and a piggy bank second.

THE CODE-LOCKED POKÉMON PIGGY BANK SAFE IS IN A DIFFERENT LEAGUE 🔐

Nothing like the resin ones. This yellow and white model, its front printed with Pikachu and Jigglypuff, runs on batteries : electronic keypad with a code you can change, a central dial, a lit number pad and above all a motor that pulls bills in while the coins drop through the slot on top. A handle lets you carry it from room to room, and the code can be changed whenever you like, which settles sibling arguments.
