A modern metropolis on Paldea's east coast
Levincia belongs to Paldea, the region of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. It stretches along the eastern coast, bordered by East Province (Area Two) to the south and west and by East Province (Area Three) to the north, and opens onto the East Paldean Sea. A river cuts it in two before flowing into the sea.
The city has four districts. The north and south districts, one on each bank, are home to the main shopping streets; the central plaza and the east district were reclaimed from the bay, on artificial land. Once night falls, billboards and spotlights light it up so brightly that it can be seen from kilometers away.
One resident describes it as a city focused on business and new technology: resolutely modern architecture, a population with a knack for commerce. Another resident praises the security its surveillance cameras provide, a detail that matters at the Gym.

The Levincia Gym and its Gym Leader, Iono
The local Gym is dedicated to the Electric type and run by Iono. Its battlefield occupies the central plaza, designed like a giant Poké Ball and surrounded by huge billboards. In town, the Gym Leader is treated like an idol: many people admire her, and some dream of becoming influencers themselves.
You stop here as part of the "Victory Road" story. The Gyms of Paldea can be taken on in any order, but the level of the Pokémon used by Iono and her Gym Trainers puts Levincia in third place in the progression the developers had in mind.
The Gym Test before the battle makes good use of the city's famous cameras. Beating Iono for the first time earns you TM048. And if it's the very first Gym you tackle, Nemona waits at the entrance to give you three Super Potions.

Skyscrapers, a park and shops: Levincia's landmarks
To the east lies an even more modern district, bristling with five skyscrapers belonging to Paldea Real Estate, whose headquarters stands at the heart of the complex. Several TMs wait on their rooftops, but you first need to be able to glide: you get the Glide ability by defeating the Titan Pokémon known as the Quaking Earth Titan.
Behind the Gym, a park holds two surprises: Wise Glasses lying between two benches, and a resident who awards the Effort Ribbon to any Pokémon totaling 510 EVs.
The rest is yours to discover as you stroll around: two Pokémon Centers, Salon Renacer, a bakery, a supermarket, eight fashion boutiques and nearly thirty places to eat, including seven Sugar-N-Ice carts and five Kanto Crepes stands.

Items to pick up and a Haunter to trade for
Searching the city pays off. A Thunder Stone is hidden at the far east, behind the central building, an Oval Stone among the flowers to the north, and an Electric Tera Shard in the south district, behind the buildings on its western edge. On top of that, there are eleven TMs scattered across the docks, the rooftops and the corners of the streets, plus TM084, which a Paldea League representative hands out at the south Pokémon Center to anyone who has beaten six Trainers in East Province (Area Two).
On the central platform, a woman offers her Haunter at level 25, nicknamed Hauntikins, for a Pincurchin. Since it isn't holding an Everstone, it evolves right away into Gengar, following the principle of trade evolution. Don't bother hoping for a Shiny: it's Shiny-locked.
Levincia in Pokémon Horizons
The first season of Pokémon Horizons stops here starting in episode HZ013, where the Rising Volt Tacklers have a picnic on the outskirts of the city. In HZ014, Liko and Murdock head off shopping while Friede stands up to the Magneton and Beheeyem belonging to Spinel, which he fends off with his Charizard, once it has Terastallized.
Yet the episode ends on a setback: Spinel lures Liko into a trap, brainwashes her with Beheeyem and steals her pendant. In HZ015, Dot calls Iono for help; thanks to the Gym Leader, the residents quickly spot Liko, who no longer remembers her companions.
Roy and Dot find her as her memory comes back in bits and pieces, then Friede joins them: the pendant is gone. The climax comes in HZ016, when Liko, Roy and Dot face Spinel on a departing cargo ship and take back the precious jewel.

Valencia, yeast and light: the origins of Levincia
Paldea is inspired by the Iberian Peninsula, and Levincia seems to draw on Valencia: the same seafront, a comparable spot on the map, and architecture reminiscent of the futuristic buildings of its City of Arts and Sciences.
The French name, Levalendura, blends the Spanish levadura, yeast, and perhaps Valencia. The Japanese Hakkō City plays on two homophones, fermentation and luminescence, and the English Levincia slips in levin, an old word for lightning: light and electricity herald the Gym. On the card side, the city entered the TCG with Journey Together, a Scarlet & Violet series expansion released on March 28, 2025.
