She watches, she takes notes, and she waits until the game is won before stepping in. Among the Explorers of Pokémon Horizons, Chalce comes in fourth, with a composure no one else in the organization shares. Where her colleagues charge ahead, she infiltrates a school, siphons data off servers and keeps watch on her own side. The most surprising part remains her starting point: a classroom she had to close.

The Fourth General, Trained by Hamber
Chalce serves as a general of the Explorers, the organization that drives the plot of Pokémon Horizons. Three colleagues had joined before her: Amethio, Coral, then Sidian.
Like the other three, she was trained by Hamber, the organization's butler. That training bond becomes a liability once she chooses to work behind her former instructor's back.
Her first appearance is silent, and that's a writing choice. She attends the meeting remotely with Gibeon, the leader of the Explorers, stays silent through Amethio's mission report and withdraws without a word.
The School She Had to Close
Before the Explorers, Chalce was a teacher. Her plan fit in a single sentence: open a school where she grew up, so that the local children could get a better start in life.
None of it held up. Families couldn't afford the tuition, and the premises she had opened with a colleague were too cramped for the numbers to add up. She had to leave her students behind and shut the doors.
Hamber showed up at exactly that moment. His offer: join the Explorers, rise through the ranks on her own merits, and one day see that wish come true. Everything she does afterward reads through the lens of that deal.

The Calmest of the Generals
The series defines her by contrast with her colleagues. She likely has the steadiest nerves of the entire leadership, and she watches far more than she intervenes: when Coral throws herself into the fray without thinking, Chalce stays on the sidelines.
Her rule fits in one sentence: attempt nothing until everything is on her side. When Grusha arrives as backup in the middle of a fight, she calls her colleagues back and refuses to battle a Gym Leader, on the grounds that the objective has already been met.
The same composure serves the group's public image. When Coral's anger threatens to spiral out of control in front of a packed hall, Chalce blocks the view by bringing down the steel shutter and announces that the event is over. She then lets Liko and Roy get away: nothing must tarnish the image of a group now riding high in public opinion.
Chive, the Teacher Who Never Existed
After the Rayquaza plan fails, Gibeon tasks the generals with keeping watch on Liko and Terapagos. Chalce opts for infiltration and joins Naranja Academy as a teacher, under the name Chive.
Her cover holds thanks to sheer nerve. When Director Clavell is surprised to find two students missing from the training rosters, she diagnoses a database error, promises to take care of it and gets thanked by the very man she is deceiving — the two students in question being Coral and Sidian.
Two people sense something is off. Penny notices that a teacher profile appeared overnight in the school's files, and Dot can't shake the feeling she has seen that face before, without being able to say where. Caught in the library with the Scarlet Book in hand, Chalce dismisses as absurd the rumors about Occulture, then lets slip that some truths are better left buried.

Spinel's Right Hand
Her real allegiance isn't to the org chart but to Spinel, whose right hand she is. The two of them secretly spy on Hamber and Amethio, keep to themselves what they have measured of the resonance given off by Terapagos, and Chalce assures her accomplice that she hasn't told the butler anything — and won't.
The cyberattack on Naranja Academy is hers to lead. From the biology lab, she siphons off everything the school has on record about Terapagos; when Dot gets one of her computers destroyed, the transfer is already complete.
The rest is internal politics. The two colleagues decide that getting rid of Amethio serves the Explorers' future, and Chalce feigns ignorance when Spinel produces the video that condemns him — before asking the accused, in front of the whole assembly, why he made a pact with the enemy.
In Laqua, the last stance she takes at Spinel's side is a silence. Gibeon has just vanished, Spinel drives the Six Heroes into a rage with Laquium Spheres, then claims Laqua in the name of the Explorers; Coral and Sidian are in shock, and Chalce silences them in a few words: just watch.

The Levincia Lighthouse, Medicham and Xatu
At the lighthouse in Levincia, it's Chalce who leads the summoning of the Black Rayquaza: she triggers a transmitter modeled on Terapagos's resonance, lures in the Shiny Legendary, then pins it down with Coral and Sidian.
The plan collapses in two stages. Roy's Wattrel interrupts her Ultra Ball throw, then Dot bursts out of the Brave Olivine and installs a program that knocks the transmitter out of action. All Chalce can do then is watch Coral explode with rage.
Her team relies on two Psychic Pokémon. Medicham powers up with Calm Mind before striking with Stored Power, Zen Headbutt, Psybeam or Axe Kick, and eventually reaches its Mega Evolution. Xatu, for its part, mostly serves to teleport its Trainer away once the mission is done.
The battle in Laqua sums up the character well. Medicham dominates Dot's Quaxwell for a long time, dodges Liquidation and Low Kick, and ignores the puddles meant to make it slip; Dot has to become unpredictable and send Air Slashes ricocheting off the sound-based attacks fired around them before it finally slips.

She was a teacher and wanted to open a school in her hometown. The children couldn't pay the tuition, and the school, too small, couldn't stay afloat financially: she had to close it and say goodbye to her students. -
Why does Chalce go by the name Chive?
It's the name under which she infiltrates Naranja Academy as a teacher, to keep an eye on Liko. Her cover falls apart in front of Dot, during the cyberattack she leads against the school. -
What Pokémon does Chalce use?
A Medicham, which reaches its Mega Evolution and chains Calm Mind, Stored Power, Zen Headbutt, Psybeam and Axe Kick, plus a Xatu she mainly uses to teleport. -
Is Chalce still a general of the Explorers?
The position is presented as a past one: Poképédia's infobox lists it as held "formerly," without the series saying when or how she left it. The episodes covered here still show her in the role, serving Spinel.
In short
Chalce is the Horizons character who does the least and gets the most. She wins almost no battles, yet walks away with Naranja Academy's data, its director's trust and her own side none the wiser. Her motive, meanwhile, has never budged an inch: a school that closed, and a promise from Hamber she is still waiting to see kept.
