An Idol Who Hands Her Fan Club Over to Her Grandfather
Canari is a video game streamer from Kalos who has become a celebrity far beyond Lumiose City. Her admirers gave themselves a name, the "Canatics," before organizing into a group: DYN4MO, which has made her its official idol.
The problem is that she has no taste for the people side of the job. Outside her streams, she almost never interacts with her fans and prefers to stay home, switching between gaming and puzzles — her real passion.
So the fan relations are outsourced, and kept in the family. Tarragon, the boss of Racine Construction, is both her grandfather and one of her earliest fans: he's the one who remotely operates a hologram of his granddaughter to keep the public persona alive when the real Canari has better things to do.

The Canari Quiz Whiz Contest: Three Rounds for One Wish
When the Z-A Royale names her as the player's next promotion-match opponent, the obstacle isn't her team: it's managing to reach her. Team MZ turns to Naveen, a die-hard fan, who at first refuses so as not to bother her and only agrees to help after losing a battle.
Naveen then reveals the existence of the Canari Quiz Whiz Contest, the event the streamer hosts for her Canatics. The idea fits in a single sentence: answer a series of questions about her correctly, and walk away with a wish granted. The venue is Lumiose's Electrical Substation, where a hologram welcomes the participants.
Three rounds clear the room. First, three statements to judge true or false, then a hunt for her Eelektross's favorite dessert — a Super Lumiose Galette. The last two still standing, the player and a fan named Stefan, have to battle each other, and the winner must answer one final question reserved for day-one fans. Feeding that answer from afar is precisely Naveen's job.
An Electric Roster Led by Mega Eelektross
Canari plays her type without compromise, and her entire roster is female, kept in Quick Balls. The core brings together Heliolisk, Ampharos and Stunfisk, the latter providing the Ground coverage that an Electric team structurally lacks.
Her favorite is Eelektross, and it never takes the field without its Eelektrossite. Every battle therefore ends against a Mega Eelektross, always the highest-leveled member of her team, and equipped with Volt Switch in her first two battles so it can come and go from the field at will.
At higher ranks, the team grows from four to six members: Manectric and Dedenne round out the lineup for Infinite Z-A Royale battles. Her Pokémon climb from just under level 40 in the first match to beyond level 140 in her later battles.
Beaten in the Promotion Match, Beaten in the Rematch
The wish earned at the Canari Quiz Whiz Contest leads the player to Racine Construction, where Tarragon tests them before revealing his secret: he was indeed the one controlling the hologram. He then takes the player to his granddaughter, mid-stream, and she agrees to the match. She loses the match, flies into a genuine rage, then calms down and congratulates her opponent, handing over the TM for Volt Switch as a reward.
The detail that defines her lies in the second gift: an Autographed Plush meant not for the player but for the friend who helped them. She had understood from the start that her opponent wasn't a fan — with her, perceptiveness is far more developed than patience.
A second encounter follows. Ivor is looking for his younger sister Gwynn, a member of the Fist of Justice, Canari's friend and a fan to boot; the streamer only talks after losing another battle to the player, who is accompanied this time by Emma. Gwynn's hideout is near a fountain depicting a Pokémon of a type that counters her own, "where the X, Y, and Z axes don't meet up".

The Hotel Richissime Gala and Le Super-Tournoi de Jacinthe
She turns up again, grandfather at her side, at the SBC gala held at Hotel Richissime. Jacinthe, the society's president, has gathered the most powerful Trainers there for a tournament of her own, Le Super-Tournoi de Jacinthe, and Canari is among those summoned.
The player rushes off when Rogue Mega-Evolved Pokémon are detected. Canari, thinking the tournament has been called off, wants to go home and discovers that the hall has been sealed off by a "Jacinthe zone" that no one can leave. The tournament eventually goes ahead, and she runs into the same opponent again in the very first round, for a third defeat.
That's where she witnesses the surprise arrival of L, accompanied by an unknown Pokémon. She recognizes him under his former identity, which says a lot about how much time she spends combing through the archives of her favorite subject.
Backup in the Ruins and Rebuilding Lumiose
When the attempt to shut down Ange fails, Vinnie calls on the high-ranking Trainers to back up Team MZ. Canari is one of them and escorts the player through the ruins, alongside six others, to calm the Mega-Evolved Pokémon attacking in hordes.
Tarragon arrives as backup with his company's resources and builds the player a full obstacle course to move forward. His granddaughter would have preferred he settle for a simple road — family irritation survives an emergency just fine. With the machine destroyed, she comes to congratulate the winner along with the other Trainers, then reappears in the credits, busy rebuilding Lumiose.
The character doesn't stop there, though. She returns as the opponent in the eleventh match of the Infinite Z-A Royale, then joins the pool of randomly drawn opponents once you pass twenty or so matches — enough to battle her again indefinitely, with a team of six that climbs to around level 95 once Mega Dimension is completed.

In short
Canari stands on a contradiction she fully owns: a celebrity whose job is all about an audience and whose temperament is all about solitude. The game turns this into access locked behind a quiz, a grandfather turned holographic avatar and a sore loser who always ends up shaking hands. Behind the idol is an Electric specialist you can battle again endlessly in the Infinite Z-A Royale.
