Atticus: The Team Star Tailor Who Leads Its Poison Crew

The gang that stands up to Naranja/Uva Academy wears clothes he tailored. Atticus leads the Navi Squad, the crew Team Star places under the Poison type, without ever ceasing to be enrolled at the school. The game makes him one more opponent on the player's path, but gives him a role nobody else holds in the organization: he's the one who designed and sewed everyone else's uniform.

The Navi Squad, Team Star's Poison crew

Atticus stands as an antagonist on the player's journey in Scarlet and Violet, and he holds only one title there: boss of the Navi Squad, the crew to which Team Star entrusts the Poison type.

The organization is divided into crews, each led by a boss and identified by a type: Mela holds Fire with the Schedar Squad, and Giacomo holds Dark with the Segin Squad. Atticus fills the Poison slot in this lineup, and the label tells the player what kind of challenge awaits before the first Poké Ball is even thrown.

His official profile points out a detail that's easy to forget while battling him: he's a student at Naranja/Uva Academy. The crew he commands isn't some outfit operating outside school life, but a gang formed inside the school itself.

The tailor who dressed the whole gang

One skill sets him apart from every other member: he can sew. The outfits you see on the grunts come from his hands, and the mobile game's profile specifies that he also made the ones the bosses wear.

His own look serves as a showcase. His white hair disappears under a purple hood that leaves his blue eyes visible, his purple tunic ends in green touches at the tips of the sleeves, and long black gloves complete the ensemble along with several belts, two black and one white.

Two details deserve a closer look. His pants are a reworked piece of the school uniform, purple or orange depending on which version of the game you own, and his nail polish is mismatched: purple on the right hand, green on the left.

Ninjas, poetry and a respectful nickname

The game explains what drove him to the gang, and the reason has nothing to do with a taste for chaos: he was bullied for his passions, ninjas on one side, poetry on the other. Team Star offered him the refuge the Academy could no longer guarantee.

His portrait draws on two registers that don't sit well together on paper. He's described as eccentric and hard to predict, and in the same breath as calm and composed; his loyalty, for its part, doesn't set him apart from his comrades, since it's the trait shared by the whole organization.

This mentor figure reaches well beyond the crew. Youssef, an Academy student who never joined Team Star, calls him nothing but "Don Atticus", and other classmates show him the same respect. His attention to detail goes all the way down to his Poké Balls: his Pokémon travel in Repeat Balls.

Outside the adventure: mobile game, cards and foreign names

Atticus arrived in the mobile game on January 17, 2025. He wears his outfit from the main adventure there and forms a sync pair with Revavroom, a personal favorite.

In the adventure, his team is well documented: at the Navi Squad's Base, he sends out Skuntank, Muk and two Revavroom, one of them the Navi Starmobile, and he adds Toxapex and Dragalge in the rematch.

On the trading card side, his first appearance dates back to the Paldean Fates expansion, released in France on January 26, 2024, and other cards have depicted him since. His name, meanwhile, changes at every border: Atticus in English, Shugi in German, Henzo in both Spanish and Italian. Spanish and Italian are the only ones to agree on a single form, while French went with Erio.

In short

Atticus is the Team Star boss whose role goes beyond battling: without him, the gang wouldn't even have a uniform. The student mocked for his love of ninjas and poetry has become the one who dresses the whole organization, and whom other students call their master without ever setting foot in the crew's base. The Poison type is just the sign over his door; his real role is played with a needle in hand.
